1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small pieces of information stored by a browser. Similar technologies, including local storage, may also store or access information on a device. They can support a requested service or be used for optional purposes such as measuring audiences or advertising. Depending on their content and use, these identifiers can constitute personal data.
This policy applies to the WAPA public website. It does not describe the separate Members area or other websites reached through external links.
2. The current public website
The public pages do not use advertising cookies, behavioural tracking or audience-measurement tools such as Google Analytics. Videos, maps and social feeds are not embedded. The website’s typography is served locally, without a request to Google Fonts.
Reading the public content does not require a visitor account. WordPress cookies associated with signing in or editing the site are relevant to authorised administrators, rather than ordinary visitors reading the public pages.
Technical access logs are different from cookies: they record requests at the hosting level. Their purpose and handling are described in the Privacy Policy.
3. Cookies associated with WordPress administration
The following first-party cookies may be used when an authorised person accesses the WordPress login or administration interface. The exact suffix varies by site or user.
| Cookie | Purpose | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|
| wordpress_test_cookie | Checks whether cookies can be used for sign-in. | Browser session. |
| wordpress_logged_in_* wordpress_sec_* |
Maintains and protects an authenticated session. | Normally a session cookie with a two-day authentication validity; up to 14 days when “Remember Me” is selected. Logging out invalidates the session. |
| wp-settings-* wp-settings-time-* |
Stores preferences for the administration interface. | Up to one year. |
| wp_lang | Remembers a language selected on the login screen. | Browser session. |
Login cookies are used to provide the secure service requested by the administrator. Administration preferences are only relevant to that interface and are not used to track public visitors across websites.
4. Consent and control
Under the Belgian rules, storage or access that is strictly necessary for transmitting a communication or delivering a service you expressly request does not require prior cookie consent. Optional analytics, advertising and other non-essential trackers require valid consent before they are activated.
As the current public website does not use optional trackers, it does not display an “Accept all” banner or a non-functional cookie-preferences button. If optional technologies are introduced, this policy and the site’s controls must be updated before activation. Visitors must be able to make a free, informed choice, refuse as easily as they accept, and withdraw consent easily. Continuing to browse is not consent.
You can inspect, delete or block cookies through your browser’s privacy settings. Blocking authentication cookies may prevent administrator sign-in. This does not prevent ordinary access to the public information pages.
5. External services and contact
Following a link to the Members area, Prognosfruit or another organisation takes you away from this public website. The destination may use its own cookies and should provide its own information and controls.
For questions about this policy, contact WAPA Association at wapa@wapa-association.org, Rue de Trèves 49–51, box 8, 1040 Brussels, Belgium.
